Want a fresh start? Want more confidence? Well, you have come to the right place. Cleaning out your closet and determining what works best for you, your style, and your body type will help you feel more confident in yourself. Having an organized closet and a perfect selection of clothing to match your fashion identity will do wonders for your confidence. This blog post will help you purge and transform your closet into a space that you will love.

HOW TO DECIDE WHAT TO PURGE:

I know that it can be difficult to decide what clothes to get rid of and which ones to keep, but honestly all you need to do is ask yourself a few simple questions to help you determine what is worth keeping.

1. Have I worn it in the past year?

If it is coming up on the next rotation of the season and you still haven't worn that sweater, you honestly probably never will.

2. Does it have holes?

Okay, in this day in age clothing with holes in it are extremely trendy, but we are talking about a completely different thing in this question. If you DID NOT purposely pay extra money for that shirt's holes, toss it!

3. Does it have a stain?

If you have already tried using a countless amount of shout to get out that spaghetti stain and it is still there, odds are it is never coming out. So toss it, it's just gross not to.

4. Have you only worn it once?

Do you still have your prom dress from 5 years ago? If the answer is yes, I promise you that you will never wear it again. So do yourself a favor and just ditch it.

5. Does it make you feel great when you wear it?

So obviously the title of this blog post is "A Fresh Start to a Confident You" and this is the most important piece in that. It that dress doesn't make you feel like you are the BOMB or like you RUN THE WORLD than say see ya later gator to it. You SHOULD feel confident.

After you decide what to purge, make your own judgement on what clothes are so worn out they need to be tossed or if they are in better condition donate it! There are also a lot of consignment shops that take classic/ timeless pieces so you can make a little $ from it. Have you ever wanted to shop your friends closet? Than consider setting up a clothes swap with your friends. It is great because it's like shopping but for free!

HOW TO ORGANIZE YOUR CLOSET:

This is a difficult topic to give set advice on because everyone likes their closets a different way that is most efficient for them. So here are some guidelines from my personal preference of organizing my closet.

1. Color

Organizing by color has to be my favorite thing to do. For some people with a colorful wardrobe this could be quite difficult but if you are more on the minimalistic side, like me, when it comes to your wardrobe this works great! Not only is it easy to find a color that matches your pants perfectly and quickly, but it is also mostly all for the aesthetic look. It just looks more organized and that you have it all together.

2. Type of Clothing

This is the most common way to organize a closet

because it honestly makes the most sense. Not only do I do it by color I do it by type. For example, shirts with shirts and skirts with skirts kinda deal.

CONSIDER CLOSET BUILD INS:

I understand that this is a pricier option and it is not for everyone. It is important to utilize the space that you have and closet build ins are extremely helpful. Everything deserves a home in your closet.

TAKE 2 TIP: Use bins to organize clothes that don't need to be hung like t-shirts or tank tops. Try and use clear bins because they help you see what clothes you have available. This way nothing gets hidden and you don't forget what you have.
